State College, PA – May 6, 2025 – Centre Foundation believes in the power of every individual to make a difference in their community. That’s why they created Centre Gives, a 36-hour online giving event that will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on May 14th and run through 8:00 p.m. on May 15th. Centre Gives provides a platform for Centre County nonprofits to raise funds online and increase awareness for their causes. It harnesses the collective generosity of the community to support a wide range of nonprofits across various sectors.
Don’t miss out on the fun! On Weds, May 14th and Thurs, May 15th, Centre Foundation invites all Centre County community members to visit CentreGives.org and donate to their favorite local nonprofits. Every donation, regardless of size, fuels vital programs and services that enrich our community. Every dollar donated through the Centre Gives campaign will receive a proportional boost from a $500,000 stretch pool provided by Centre Foundation and the Hamer Foundation, along with $40,000 in prizes. These incentives help maximize the impact of each contribution, making your donation go even further!
Imagine the joy of being a part of something bigger than yourself. Jason Browne a local resident excited to donate again this year, shares, “Centre Gives is our chance to give back to the organizations that give so much to us all year long. Whether you care about the arts, animal welfare, social justice, or the environment, there’s a nonprofit waiting for your support. And the best part? It’s fun. With up to $500,000 in stretch pool funds, power hours, prizes, and real-time giving goals, it turns philanthropy into a game that anyone can play. One minute you’re scrolling on your phone, the next you’re on a giving streak—clicking, cheering, and making a difference 9with every dollar. It’s like the joy of gaming, but for good.”
Since its inception in 2012, Centre Gives has invested over $19.7 million in local nonprofits, which serve our community in the areas of the arts, animals, education, environment, health & social services, and more. Last year alone, Centre Gives raised a record-breaking $2.49 million for more than 200 Centre County nonprofits through 16,570 total gifts in just 36 hours. Notably, Centre Gives has been voted the “Best Fundraising Event in State College” for ten consecutive years by State College Magazine readers, a testament to its enduring commitment to excellence and community engagement.
“We’re beyond excited to grow the stretch pool to an incredible $500,000 this year, thanks to a phenomenal, matched gift from the Hamer Foundation,” said Molly Kunkel, President and CEO of Centre Foundation.
“This partnership supercharges every dollar given during Centre Gives 2025, amplifying impact and opening the door for local nonprofits to do even more of the work that makes our community shine. It’s not just about giving; it’s about creating lasting change. We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together this year during Centre Gives.”
The nonprofits that enrich our lives rely on our support. Take a moment to visit the profiles of participating local nonprofits on CentreGives.org/organizations and learn about their impactful missions. Once you’ve explored, spread the word and encourage your friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to join in giving online on May 14th and 15th.
“Centre Gives is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together,” said Nathaniel Rasmussen, Community Impact Director at Centre Foundation. “It’s not just an event, it’s a movement! It energizes our community, brings visibility to vital causes, and empowers people to be part of the solutions shaping a stronger Centre County.”
