Introducing Centre Foundation’s New 2026 Board Members

Centre Foundation is proud to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors: Mark Rigby, Rev. Dr. Anne K. Ard, Alex Fletcher, and Mick Trombley. Centre Foundation fosters a culture of giving, supports and empowers nonprofits, and sparks positive community change. Their perspectives will help guide Centre Foundation’s work as we continue to strengthen our impact across Centre County and deepen our service to the community.

Mark Rigby,
Independent consultant

Mark is a graduate of State College Area High School and Penn State. He has over forty years of experience in the energy and industrial sectors. He currently provides advisory services to the energy and environmental sectors with a specific focus on the transition to renewable energy. Prior to forming a consulting practice, he spent many years with energy and industrial corporations in multiple roles.

Mark’s career began as a certified public accountant with KPMG, followed by positions with Air Products and Chemicals and DTE Energy. He is currently affiliated with Stillwater Associates. He recently concluded serving on the executive board and as treasurer of North Star Reach, a nonprofit organization that is part of the SeriousFun network of camps, which provide life-changing camp experiences for seriously ill children and their families, entirely free of charge. While a longtime resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, he considers State College home.

Upon being appointed to the board, Mark remarked, “I am honored to join The Centre Foundation board and look forward to supporting the community through participating in the Foundation’s mission.

Rev. Dr. Anne K. Ard,
Retired, Former Executive Director, Centre Safe

Ann retired in September 2022 after serving for 25 years as Executive Director of Centre Safe, a domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center in Centre County, PA. In that role, she provided leadership at both the state and local levels. Anne was appointed by Governor Rendell to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency in 2007 and served on the Commission and as Chair of the Victims Services Advisory Committee until 2010. In 2019, she was reappointed to the Commission by Governor Wolf, serving until her retirement. Anne also served on the Board of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape and on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence. In October 2015, she was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to the Pennsylvania Commission for Women. In Centre County, Anne chaired the Centre County Domestic and Sexual Violence Task Force and served on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board. For 18 years, she wrote the monthly column, Healthy Relationships, for the Centre Daily Times newspaper.

Prior to her work at Centre Safe, Anne was a Senior Diversity Planning Analyst in the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity at Penn State. In that role, she worked with the Commission for Women and the Commission for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Equity. An ordained Presbyterian minister, Anne came to Penn State in 1981 as a campus minister specializing in women’s issues and social justice, a position she held for nearly ten years. Anne received her BA from Centenary College, a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary, and her Ph.D. from Penn State. She is married to Tom Poole and they have two adult children.

Alex Fletcher,
Partner at Frost & Conn Insurance Agency

Alex was born and raised in State College. He graduated from State College Area High School and subsequently from the United States Naval Academy. Following graduation, he served as a Naval Officer and Strike Fighter Pilot, flying F/A-18s for more than a decade.

Alex and his wife, Alicia, currently reside in Boalsburg, and Alex is a fourth-generation leader of the Frost & Conn Insurance Agency in State College. Having grown up in Centre County, Alex is deeply committed to giving back to and strengthening the community. Support of Centre Foundation is central to this commitment, and he is honored to be part of such an outstanding organization.

Mick Trombley,
Attorney and Founder, Trombley Real Estate

Mick has been a Centre County resident for 37 years.  He is married to Cheryl Trombley and has two children, Erika (31) and Luke (29),

Trombley has worked in Commercial Real Estate throughout his time in State College and, for the past 16 years, has operated his firm, Trombley Real Estate.  Mick is an attorney and holds the CCIM designation.

He is part of an effort to promote positive fathering, which includes an article that has been running regularly in the CDT for 25 years and has recently expanded to the Gazette.

Mick is excited to be helping  Centre Foundation to make our community even stronger.
