On June 23, 2026, we hosted an informational webinar and Q&A reviewing all the Granting Opportunities available during 2026. It provides an overview of the Centre Foundation’s 2026 competitive grant opportunities for local nonprofits, including the relaunch of the $100,000 Centre Inspires program. Attendees will learn about essential eligibility requirements, the online application process via the Foundant grant portal, and details on various funding cycles throughout the year.

Centre Inspires Q & A
In 2026, we’re relaunching Centre Inspires. Letters of Intent are Due July 9. Learn More
Below are the questions and answers from the above webinar.
Centre Inspires is intentionally broad this year as it relaunches. We are seeking innovative, community-focused ideas that create meaningful impact in Centre County. There are no strict thematic priorities—applicants are encouraged to propose their strongest ideas.
At this stage, evaluation criteria are not highly prescriptive. Reviewers will consider overall impact, alignment with community needs, and the strength and feasibility of the idea. Projects that demonstrate clear benefit to Centre County—either broadly or within underserved areas—may be particularly competitive.
Partnerships are encouraged and can strengthen a proposal, particularly for larger or more complex projects. However, they are not required, and strong standalone proposals will be considered equally.
Sustainability is a consideration, but it is not a requirement. Both ongoing initiatives and one-time projects are eligible, as long as they demonstrate meaningful impact.
No. Projects can be fully funded by the Centre Inspires grant. While some past projects have leveraged additional funding, this is not required. However, only funding already in place may be considered. Your proposed project cannot be dependent on other funding not yet guaranteed.
Yes. Grant funds can be used for a range of project-related expenses, including salaries, benefits, and contracted services, as part of a clearly defined project budget.
Yes. Organizations that are not officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) may apply through a fiscal sponsor. The sponsor must be an eligible entity (typically a 501(c)(3) or governmental agency) and will enter into a formal agreement if the project advances.
Fiscal sponsorship allows a qualified nonprofit or governmental entity to apply on behalf of a project that does not have its own tax-exempt status. The sponsor assumes responsibility for managing funds and ensuring compliance. A formal agreement between the project and sponsor will be required later in the process.
Yes. While Centre Inspires is designed to support new ideas, proposals that revive or reimagine previously successful programs are welcome—especially if they include a new or expanded approach.
The LOI is a short, initial application intended to capture your core idea. It includes a limited number of questions and a basic budget. Detailed planning and documentation are not expected at this stage.
Responses should be concise—typically a few paragraphs per question. Applicants do not need to conduct extensive research or provide full implementation plans until later rounds.
Yes. Organizations may submit multiple Letters of Intent. However only one proposal per organization will advance to the next phase.
Yes. Serving as a partner or fiscal sponsor on another proposal does not affect your organization’s ability to submit or advance its own application.
There is no predetermined number. The grants committee will determine how many proposals move forward based on the pool of submissions.
At this time, there is no formal matchmaking system. However, the Centre County nonprofit Facebook group is a useful place to start conversations. Centre Foundation is also exploring opportunities to facilitate networking and collaboration in the future.
